Next Steps
A new preschool class for 3-year-olds!
United Services for Children is excited to launch a new preschool program designed for children 3 years old, the age when children graduate from our Early Intervention classrooms and enter their school district’s preschool program. But some children need additional help, yet do not qualify for school district services. Next Steps is the solution!
Next Steps is open to children who have exited Missouri First Steps and received a special education evaluation from their home school district, but do not qualify for their district’s early childhood special education services. Next Steps’ curriculum offers a balance between developmentally appropriate instruction and play-based learning.
Next Steps curriculum:
- Supportive, collaborative, child-centered environment.
- Individualized instruction based on each child’s age and development.
- Helping each child meet goals tailored just for them.
- Intentional teaching using materials, activities and strategies that meet preschoolers’ individual and group needs.
- Valuing and including each child’s family, language and culture.
Next Steps begins Aug. 18, 2025, and continues through May 22, 2026.
Class meets 1-3:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at United Services for Children, located at 3420 Harry S. Truman Blvd. in St. Charles, Mo.
Total enrollment is limited to 12 children. Class is staffed by one early childhood teacher and two classroom assistants. Families will have an opportunity to tour the program and meet the classroom teaching team before their child’s first day. Families are welcome to bring their child to and from their classroom each session. Children do not have to be potty trained to attend Next Steps.
Tuition costs $300 per month.
