Meet CHIP!

Our new service dog has a name! During February, United Services held a contest on Facebook, inviting the public to submit their suggestions for the dog’s name. We received more than 100 responses! Our staff narrowed them down to five finalists, then conducted an electronic public poll, asking people to choose their favorite.

The winning name was Chip, suggested by Jamie Skyles. She will receive a photo shoot with Chip at The Yuppy Puppy pet spa, where Chip is being trained. Jamie will also receive a gift basket from United Services.

“I think the impact that Chip will have on the kids with developmental disabilities will be truly life changing,” Skyles said. “I imagine that he will bring smiles to everyone for years to come.”

Skyles said she chose the name “Chip” because the dog is a chocolate Labrador retriever, which made her think of chocolate chips.

United Services thanks Jamie and everyone who suggested or voted on a name! We expect Chip to make his first public appearance at the FORE the Children golf tournament on May 18, and his first visit to meet the children at United Services sometime afterward.
